Rising stars on the NYC rock scene, LEROY JUSTICE, played a late show Saturday night on the recently expanded Stage 2 at ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL on the Lower East Side.  In this video clip, Cody Dickinson of the NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS, sits in on a Leroy Justice original, “All My Life,” after which Cody remained on stage for a blazing cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Hey Hey (What Can I Do).”  Ironically, Cody and his brother Luther Dickinson, opened for Robert Plant earlier that evening at the Beacon Theater as the North Mississippi All Stars Duo.  While Cody normally plays drums and keyboards in the All Stars (occasionally at the same time), and he plays drums in the duo with Luther, he does play guitar in his bluesy side project, HILL COUNTRY REVUE with fellow all-star, Chris Chew.  Of course, Luther plays guitar in THE BLACK CROWES, as well.  Damn, these guys are busy!  Incidentally, Leroy Justice does show a bit of Crowes influence in their hard-rockin’ heartfelt performances.  Don’t be weirded out by the neckties and vests and polished stage presence.  These guys rock pretty hard, and their live performances are quite engaging even if you are hearing their music for the first time, which you can do on Thursday, February 24th at 8:30pm, when Leroy Justice performs at THE CANAL ROOM (285 West Broadway @ Canal Street, Tribeca, Manhattan; 212-941-8100).  Also check out Leroy Justice’s latest album, THE LOHO SESSIONS.
